Endoscopic Surgery

The doctor will review your symptoms, and then perform a physical examination, and possibly order some blood tests prior to an endoscopy. These tests will help your doctor gain a more accurate understanding of the possible cause of your symptoms. These tests may also help them determine if the problems can be treated.

Choosing to have your tests or general surgery abroad with us means that you to decide when you come to see us and you can have your procedure at a time to suit you.

COLONOSCOPY

This is a very common procedure and helps the doctor diagnose issues quickly and efficiently.

The doctor may recommend this procedure to investigate intestinal signs and symptoms.

A colonoscopy can help us explore possible causes of abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, chronic diarrhea, and other intestinal problems.

SCREEN FOR COLON CANCER. Colonoscopy is one of a few options for colon cancer screening.

TO LOOK FOR POLYPS. If you have had polyps before, your doctor may recommend a follow-up colonoscopy to look for and remove any additional polyps. This is done to reduce your risk of colon cancer.

TO TREAT AN ISSUE. Sometimes, a colonoscopy may be done for treatment purposes, such as placing a stent or removing an object in your colon.

Please contact us when considering having your general surgery abroad.

Our specialists cover all fields of medicine.

Laparoscopic Surgery

Laparoscopy is a type of surgical procedure that allows a surgeon to access the inside of the abdomen (tummy) and pelvis without having to make large incisions in the skin. This procedure is also known as keyhole surgery or minimally invasive surgery.

Common laparoscopic procedures include:

Laparoscopic surgery on the colon includes diverticulosis, the removal of large growths called polyps that can’t be completely removed by colonoscopy, and colon cancer.

ERCP

(ERCP) is a procedure that combines upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy and x-rays to treat problems of the bile and pancreatic ducts. A small incision is made in the skin, and a needle into the bile ducts or gallbladder and a contrast liquid injected, to help look for blockages.

INTERVENTIONAL ENDOSCOPIC PROCEDURE

It is used to diagnose and treat liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas problems. The procedure combines x-rays and the use of an endoscope. The scope is guided through the patient’s mouth and throat, then through to the oesophagus, stomach, and duodenum.

ESD

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is a minimally invasive procedure. The doctor uses a flexible, tube-like tool called an endoscope to remove precancerous and cancerous areas in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. This treatment targets tumours under the lining of your gastro intestinal tract.

COLON STENTING

This technique used to treat obstructed portions of the large intestine. This technique uses a flexible, hollow tube called a stent to expand and open the blocked section of the colon. This procedure is used effectively for patients with colon cancer or other forms of bowel blockages.

VARICOSE OR SPIDER VEIN TREATMENT

Sclerotherapy is the medical term for this procedure which involves injecting a chemical solution directly into the varicose or spider vein. The solution causes the vein walls to swell, stick together and seal. This stops the flow of blood. As a result the vein fades within a few weeks.

OESOPHAGEAL VARICOSE BAND LIGATION

The doctor will use a lighted endoscope and place an elastic band around the bleeding esophogeal vein. Banding the vein cuts off the blood flow through the vein. The banded tissue develops into a small ulceration, this will quickly heal after several days.

LAZER HEMORRHOID TREATMENT

Laser treatment has become a popular way of treating piles. Laser surgery for hemorrhoids is the method that is most recommended by both patients and treating doctors. It is normally an outpatient treatment and therefore has a quick recovery time.

THYROID SURGERY

Although 95% of thyroid nodules are benign, 5% are cancerous. For optimum success the complete removal of the gland is often required to treat thyroid cancer. Thyroid surgery is a common operation and may be recommended for several disorders, including hyperthyroidism, thyroid cancer and enlarged thyroid.

GALL BLADDER REMOVAL

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is minimally invasive surgery to remove the gallbladder. This procedure is done when gallstones cause inflammation, pain or an infection. The surgery involves a few small incisions, and most people go home the same day and soon return to normal activities. This procedure is normally performed using keyhole surgery. Your doctor will advise you as to recovery procedure following surgery. We also have a dietician available to advise you on changing your eating habits after this surgery.

Hernia Repair Surgery

There are two different ways of performing this surgery.

Open hernia surgery. The surgeon makes a cut in the groin to view and repair the hernia. …
Laparoscopic hernia surgery. The surgeon makes several small cuts in the lower abdomen and inserts special tools to view and repair the hernia. Your doctor will discuss your individual case with you and decide which procedure is most appropriate for you. It is suggested that you take a few days to recover and rest. Within reason ( and avoiding lifting heavy objects or strenuous activity) returning to normal activity as soon as possible will most likely enhance your recovery. Your doctor will discuss the recovery procedure with you.
