BMI Calculator

Weight loss surgery is an option if you have a body mass index (BMI) of 32 or higher or have a BMI between 30 and 35 and an obesity-related condition.

Gastric Balloons give patients a window of opportunity to help them lose weight quickly and effectively. The effects of these procedures last for approximately 6 months. These weight loss surgery cyprus procedures can be very helpful to patients with a BMI below 35 wanting to lose weight.

Please read the information below which outlines the different procedures available.
We are happy to discuss these options with you, to help you make an informed decision.

Weight Loss Surgery (Bariatric Surgery)

Gastric Sleeve

It is an operation method that reduces the stomach capacity by 80%. It is a surgical method planned with the logic of reducing food intake and thus calorie intake by reducing only the volume without changing any part of the gastrointestinal system. With this method, it is generally possible to reduce 30-52% of body mass. Unlike many surgeons, we routinely bury the cut line after sleeve gastrectomy with suture, as a standard for all patients, we adjust the size accordingly by placing a calibration tube. This method is called an adjustable gastric sleeve.

Gastric By-Pass

The procedure consists of two stages: First, the upper part of the stomach is separated from the rest and a 30 ml gastric sac is formed. Then the first part of the small intestine is divided and the lower end is connected to the newly formed small gastric sac.

  1. Causes significant weight loss
  2. The amount of food to be consumed is limited
  3. Reduces appetite and increases satiety

  1. It is a more complex operation than other methods
  2. The hospital stay is longer
  3. Lifetime nutritional advice must be followed
  4. Vitamin-Mineral supplements intake and control are required.
Weight Loss Surgery (Bariatric Surgery)

Gastric Balloon

It is used as an alternative to bariatric surgery in overweight individuals. The balloon limits the person’s food intake, so that early satiety occurs. This procedure is often used to help patients reduce weight prior to other surgeries.
  • It Is Not A Surgical Procedure
  • Operation Is Easy And Fast
  • It Causes Significant Weight Loss In The Long Term If Combined With Diet And Physical Activity

Some Patients May Not Tolerate The Balloon. In The First Days, Nausea, Vomiting, and Acid Reflux In The Stomach May Occur.

  • It Can Remain In The Stomach For A Certain Period Of Time And Then Needs To Be Removed
  • There Is A Risk Of Regaining The Weight Lost After The Balloon Is Removed.
